Ethique: Our Story and Mission

Brianne West, the CEO and Founder of Ethique, started the company in her kitchen in 2012 when she began experimenting with solid shampoo bars. Today, Ethique boasts over 100 products in its range.

At Ethique, we create conscious and concentrated haircare, skincare, body care, and more products to help make giving up the bottle easier. All our products are 100% plastic-free, certified vegan, cruelty-free, and palm-oil free. Furthermore, our packaging is 100% plastic-free.

Our mission is to revolutionize the cosmetics industry and regenerate our planet through business. Helping to rid the world of single-use plastic bottles is just one part of that. As of 2021, we have saved over 20 million single-use plastic bottles from being made or disposed of in landfills around the world, over 3 million gallons of water from being wasted, and have planted over 350,000 trees. This is only the beginning!

Compact by Design: Focusing on Sustainability

We created Compact by Design to identify products that, while they may not always look very different, have a more efficient design. With the removal of excess air and water, products require less packaging and become more efficient to ship. At scale, these small differences in product size and weight lead to significant carbon emission reductions.

Our Clarifying Shampoo Bar is perfect for oily scalps, and for those who want a deep cleanse. Lift away impurities with the help of lime and orange essential oils, and gentle surfactants. Castor oil is remarkable at dissolving oils and sebum while glycerin moisturizes hair without any heavy oils to weigh hair down.

Each shampoo bar lasts at least 80 washes, equivalent to three bottles of liquid shampoo. To use, simply stroke the bar down wet hair – it will lather! The bar has recyclable, home-compostable packaging. Simply tear up the box and pop it in your compost bin or bury it in your garden to return nutrients to the soil.

Ethique's products are formulated using vegan, cruelty-free, palm oil-free, paraben-free, and renewable ingredients, sourced from sustainable producers paid a fair wage.
